Managing Complications around Dental Implants (Robert Oretti)

Robert Oretti's BioHorizons Camlog programme examined how to assess and manage compromised implant outcomes. Topics included soft-tissue defects, grafting complications and early or late peri-implantitis.

The teaching compared attempts to retain an ailing implant with removal and reconstruction. It addressed implant cleaning, bone and soft-tissue grafting, keratinised tissue, mucogingival correction and prosthetic factors. The 18–19 September 2026 Newbury event has finished. Complication assessment and repair

Case teaching considers when an ailing implant can be retained and when removal is appropriate. Topics include implant-surface cleaning, repeat bone grafting, horizontal and vertical soft-tissue defects, keratinised tissue, mucogingival correction and prosthetic contributors to inflammation.

For failed implants, discussion follows removal timing, ridge preservation and staged hard- or soft-tissue grafting before replacement. The completed Newbury event was scheduled for 8:30am–5:30pm at Donnington Valley Hotel.
