Rubber Dam and Isolation courses, common questions
Is rubber dam mandatory for root canal treatment in the UK?
It is the accepted standard of care and is expected by the GDC, indemnity providers and the British Endodontic Society. Treating without it exposes you to clinical and medico-legal risk.
How long is a rubber dam course?
Most are half-day or one-day hands-on sessions providing three to seven hours of verifiable CPD.
Does isolation training count as CPD?
Under the GDC Enhanced CPD scheme dentists need 100 hours of verifiable CPD in each five-year cycle, with at least 10 hours in any two consecutive years. Check that the provider issues a certificate that states the hours, the learning outcomes and the GDC development outcomes it maps to.
