Intravenous Sedation for Dentists: New Starter Pathway

Dental Sedation Courses offers an immediate-start pathway for dentists and medics new to intravenous sedation, or with fewer than 20 independently completed cases. STAC/IACSD-accredited training combines online learning with supervised clinical experience and final competency review.

Three stages

1. Complete online videos, demonstrations, lectures, quizzes and tasks covering intravenous conscious sedation and oral sedation or premedication. This stage carries 14 verifiable CPD hours.
2. Complete 20 mentored cases with an approved experienced mentor, either at your practice or through participating UK clinics. Luton is the main supervising centre.
3. Submit the logbook, competencies and reflective case studies for review and certification.

A textbook, logbooks and resources are included, together with support for completing the clinical requirements. Resources remain accessible for 12 months. One dental nurse receives complimentary online course access and certification alongside each dentist; attending a mentoring clinic with the dentist may cost extra.

Fees and clinical costs

The online fee is £799 paid upfront or six payments of £150, totalling £900. VAT treatment is not stated. Using the arranged mentoring centre is estimated at £3,500 for 20 cases, or £4,000 when bringing a dental nurse. Confirm the full quotation and any other clinical costs before enrolment.

Potential mentoring CPD is described as seven hours per day, subject to the actual training. It is separate from the 14 online hours and is not included as a fixed total here. Completing the online element alone does not complete the clinical pathway.
