Overview
About this course
ICE and the University of Salford jointly deliver this part-time implant programme. The first two years combine academic study with supervised surgical and restorative work at ICE Hospital; a third dissertation year leads to the MSc. Approximately 405 verifiable CPD hours are stated for the MSc.
Study structure
- Year 1: patient assessment and treatment planning, followed by implant surgery.
- Year 2: restorative treatment and maintenance, then complex implant procedures.
- Year 3: a supervised dissertation, using a systematic review or research project.
Expect around 15 lecture days and at least eight clinic days each year in the taught programme, with some assessment attendance in addition. Pre-clinical practice uses models and optional animal-head exercises. ICE supplies patients, equipment and mentors, with at least four supervised implant placements; further cases depend on experience and performance. Systems include Megagen, Osstem, Southern Implants and Inserta.
Assessment includes a clinical ePortfolio, essays, reports, presentations, posters and an OSCE, followed by dissertation work for the MSc. Most teaching is at Salford Quays, with occasional sessions at the university’s Frederick Road campus.
Starts are normally in September. The page still refers specifically to September 2026 applications, so confirm the next available intake. The displayed £10,609 relates to the 2026/27 academic year and is not represented as the full three-year fee. Ask for the full programme costs, future-year fees and VAT treatment. Application begins with an expression of interest reviewed by ICE, then an eligible applicant receives the university registration link.
