Overview

About this course

Chris Waith and Neil Patel deliver a multi-system foundation in implant dentistry at MANDEC in Manchester. The programme combines preparatory online learning with five attendance days, including practical and interactive work.

Day 1: assessment and planning

Review osseointegration, implant dimensions and surfaces, bone- and tissue-level systems, screw and cement retention and platform switching. Assess medical, periodontal, occlusal and bone factors, compare alternative treatments and use the SAC classification to judge case complexity.

Day 2: surgical techniques

Work through aseptic setup, instruments, immediate and delayed placement and loading, grafting materials, membranes, flap design and drilling protocols, including Versah. Practical placement uses models and animal heads.

Day 3: prosthetic treatment

Compare fixture- and abutment-level restoration, materials, open- and closed-tray impressions, fitting and torque application. Study locator and bar overdentures and common restorative difficulties.

Day 4: digital workflows

Use CBCT and digital planning principles to assess surgical guides and connect scanning with milling or 3D printing. Exercises include a digital implant-planning workflow.

Day 5: maintenance and complications

Recognise biological, mechanical and aesthetic complications, plan recall and maintenance and select appropriate first cases. Patient communication and treatment alternatives remain part of the decision process.

Dates, fee and CPD

The current heading and course index advertise 21–25 June 2027, while an older paragraph still states June 2026. Confirm the 2027 timetable before booking. The dentist fee is £2,249; VAT and inclusions are unspecified.

The header states 50 CPD hours, but the description gives 20 online plus 35 face-to-face hours. These figures conflict, so confirm the certificate total. No numerical CPD value is assumed here, and the listed £0 DCP field is not treated as a free place.

Outcomes
